Types of Visa That Apply

For attending a conference, seminar, or meeting, Malaysia treats this under Social Visit purposes

  • Visa-Free Entry → If your country is on the exemption list, you just enter on a short-term social visit pass (stamped at immigration).

  • Single-Entry Visa (SEV) → For nationalities needing a visa, valid for one entry, usually up to 30 days.

  • eVisa / eNTRI (for some countries, e.g., China, India, South Asia) → Easy online application, issued within a few working days.

Documentation Needed for Conference Visitors

  • Passport valid for 6 months minimum.

  • Conference invitation letter or proof of registration (to show at embassy/immigration if asked).

  • Return or onward flight ticket.

  • Proof of accommodation (hotel booking or provided by conference organizer).

  • Completed Malaysia Digital Arrival Card (MDAC) — required for all foreign visitors within 3 days before arrival (since Jan 2024).
