This research aims to determine the linguistic manipulation strategies and respondents’ impressions of the selected politicians’ speeches. The researchers utilize a descriptive method by gathering information through open-ended interview questions to distinguish the respondents’ impressions of politicians’ speeches. The researchers analyze the public speeches delivered by political figures. The selected materials used are videos from Facebook and YouTube that exhibit political discourse that helps attain the study’s objectives in determining the effect of linguistic manipulation strategies used by various political figures. The purpose of identifying all the manipulating speech strategies is to distinguish the speaker’s speaking style and know the impression of their delivery to the audience. The content of the questionnaires determines the respondents’ impressions of how the politicians used their language. Furthermore, the justification of use for this research is to analyze the respondents’ insights, beliefs, political awareness, and the like to answer the different linguistic manipulation strategies utilized in the different videos provided. After gathering all the data, it is subjected to content analysis and discussed narratively in line with the qualitative nature. The findings of this study indicate that each respondent has their impressions regarding the language used by political figures in their speeches. The researchers find four linguistic manipulation strategies employed by the political figures: conversational, rational, authoritarian, and affective manipulation strategies. Therefore, language has an effect on one’s credibility in teaching and learning. Since it is difficult to predict whether the majority of the audience will react positively or negatively to language usage, correct language use is essential in discussing specific contexts and situations. In line with language teaching, the pedagogical implication of the linguistic manipulation strategies and respondents’ impressions in language teaching utilize communication strategies and correlate communicative abilities and strategies in classroom teaching. Accordingly, it provides opportunities in the teaching and learning field for communicative interactions to improve and teach the language with an extensive vocabulary for continuous learning.
